Guide to Migrate Your WhatsApp Conversations to a New Device Without Utilizing Google Drive

WhatsApp

The Meta-owned messaging platform, WhatsApp, is continually updating and introducing new upgrades to enhance user experience. With advanced privacy tools and engaging features, it has become the go-to messaging app for many.

Transferring essential data from an old device to a new one can be challenging. In most instances, users lose their data and have to start anew on their new smartphone. Traditionally, Android users have had to rely on Google Drive to move their WhatsApp data, such as chats and media files. However, this dependence on Google Drive may soon change.

According to recent reports by WaBetainfo, WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will enable chat and data transfers between devices without the need for Google Drive backups. The company has allegedly introduced this chat transfer feature in the 2.23.9.19 update for Android beta users, available on the Google Play Store.

Once publicly released, users will be able to transfer their WhatsApp data to a new Android device without resorting to third-party platforms. This transfer chat feature will be accessible within WhatsApp’s settings. Users can navigate to their WhatsApp settings, click on Chats, and find a new button requesting permission to transfer chat history. Selecting this option will facilitate the transfer of your old WhatsApp data to your new Android smartphone.

Additionally, WhatsApp is reportedly introducing a “side-by-side” feature on Android tablets for select beta testers.
