Looking at the Contenders for Super Bowl LVIII

Super Bowl LVIII

It won’t be long now for the start of the 2023 NFL season and 32 teams will be vying for the Lombardi Trophy which goes to the winner of the Super Bowl.

But what teams have a realistic shot at winning Super Bowl LVIII in Paradise, Nevada in February? Here’s an early look:

Kansas City Chiefs

The NFL is dominated by good quarterbacks and the best in the league is Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes has the ability to get out of the pocket and make plays and throw accurately from all different arm angles. Remember, he was a baseball player growing up.

Mahomes’ favorite target is Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce who had 12 touchdowns last year, and the Chiefs running game got a big lift from rookie Isiah Pacheco in 2022. The Chiefs are the Champs until someone knocks them off.

Philadelphia Eagles

After losing in the Super Bowl to the Chiefs, the Eagles are still a favorite among sportsbooks in Pennsylvania to get back to the Super Bowl in 2023.

And why not? Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts came into his own last season throwing for 3,701 yards and 22 touchdowns and also running for 760 yards. The Eagles defense is beastly led by Sackmaster Haason Redick.

Cincinnati Bengals

Notice a trend here? We’re talking about another young stud quarterback, this time it’s the Bengals Joe Burrow. The 26-year-old Burrow directed the Bengals to the Super Bowl in 2022, and the AFC Championship Game last year where they lost to Mahomes and the Chiefs.

Burrow needs a bit more help from his offensive line to keep him from being pressured, but he is surrounded by talented wide receivers including Ja’Marr Chase. The Bengals have never won a Super Bowl in their history.

Buffalo Bills

One more superstar quarterback on this list, this time it’s the Bills Josh Allen. The Bills were pre-season Super Bowl favorites in 2022, but got beat by the Bengals in the AFC Divisional Round.

Allen is one of the most exciting players in the NFL today. He threw 35 TD passes last year and also ran for seven more. The Bills defense should get a boost from the signing of free agent Shaq Lawson. The Bills are another team desperate for a Super Bowl championship. Buffalo has played in four Super Bowls and never won.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys get too much attention and too much hype, but there’s reason to believe Dallas can win its first Super Bowl since 1996.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was injured last year, but came back and played well, leading the Cowboys to the NFC Divisional Round. And while we’ve spent a lot of time on this list talking about quarterbacks, the Cowboys feature one of the NFL’s best overall defensive players in linebacker Micah Parsons.
